EDUCATIONAL SPACE

MUSEUM FOR CHILDREN - SYRACUSE

A museum for the family, too

Of course, I was once a child myself. In fact in some ways I was the most famous child in Syracuse because from an early age I was building objects and exploring. I would look around with curiosity and wanted to experience firsthand everything imaginable. There you have it dear children, never restrain your urge to try, to search, to find. That is also why I wanted this space to be above all a place designed to introduce younger children to educational activities. A sort of creative gymnasium, to practice experiencing cultural locations and the objects kept there, with the attention and care they deserve, but always with an eye on the educational and scientific aspect that should never be lacking.
I was actually born in Syracuse, and we are not talking about Archimedes Pythagorean the Disney cartoons, but about me, a scientist and mathematician who lived in the 3rd century B.C. So naturally the Museum wanted to pay tribute to me! But what does Leonardo da Vinci have to do with it? The very famous Renaissance genius, one of the greatest men of all time, owes a debt to me. This prompted the idea of uniting our lofty minds and comparing them in a museum, showing Leonardo’s inventions alongside Archimede’s, to seal a unique and unbreakable bond between we scholars. Archimedes, as Leonardo’s teacher if you like.
The Museum is very concerned about children’s safety; one does not come here to run and shout, but to learn and leave with something new and exciting for your future.

The Archimedes and Leonardo Museum – Syracuse “becomes two”..

I imagined this space as a place where children can build on their emotional intelligence, where we offer laboratory activities, workshops, conferences to stimulate children but also adults in their approach to art and didactic. Therefore, not just a museum but a cultural center, with additional services reserved for them and flanked by expert teachers and operators in the field. Our aim to open the doors to children and, more specifically to families.
