EDUCATIONAL SPACE
MUSEUM FOR CHILDREN SYRACUSE
A museum for the family, too
I was a child myself, of course. In fact, in some ways, I was the most famous child in Syracuse because from an early age I was constructing objects and explorative. I looked around with curiosity and wanted to experience everything I could imagine firsthand. So, dear children, never restrain the urge to try, to seek, to find. That is also why I wanted this Museum, to have a space to introduce the youngest children to educational activities, a kind of creative gymnasium to practice how to enjoy cultural places and the objects exhibited with the attention and care they deserve. Here, the educational and scientific aspect is at the center of every activity. We want every child who enters these spaces to experience and learn in an engaging and stimulating way. I was actually born in Syracuse, and we’re not talking about Archimedes Pythagorean the Disney cartoon, but about me, a scientist and mathematician who lived in the third century B.C..
So it is only natural that the Museum wanted to pay tribute to me! But what does Leonardo da Vinci have to do with it? The very famous Renaissance genius, one of the greatest men of all time, owes a debt to me. Therefore, the idea of joining our great minds and comparing them in a museum space, showing Leonardo’s inventions alongside Archimedean inventions, to seal a unique and unbreakable bond between us scholars. Archimedes, Leonardo’s master, if you will.
The Museum is very attentive to children’s safety. You don’t visit to run and scream, but to learn and go home with something new and exciting for your future. It is important that parents and chaperones closely follow the children during the visit, guiding them through the activities and making sure they follow certain rules. At this museum, scientific models are used which are essential for learning and experimentation. We invite families to teach their children the importance of carefully handling these mechanisms, understanding that each device is a means of discovering and learning something new about science and history. Here, every activity is designed to introduce you to and appreciate science and culture in an enjoyable and instructive way.
Together, we can ensure that this educational environment remains a safe and enriching place for all.
Do you agree?
The Archimedes and Leonardo Museum – Syracuse “becomes two”..
I imagined this space as a place where children can build on their emotional intelligence, where we offer laboratory activities, workshops, conferences to stimulate children but also adults in their approach to art and didactic. Therefore, not just a museum but a cultural center, with additional services reserved for them and flanked by expert teachers and operators in the field. Our aim to open the doors to children and, more specifically to families.
